National Pancake Day and the Dr. Seuss Massacre

February 28th, 2012 was "National Pancake Day."

The end.

Just kidding.

National Pancake Day
coincided with my kids' school vacation week AND a day off for myself, so I took advantage of IHOP's 'free pancake' deal and brought the kids for breakfast.

That's when we noticed that the theme of the kids menu was the new Dr. Seuss movie "The Lorax" and it had, well, a coloring page where you were supposed to put tops on the trunks of all these trees around the guy but, um....

Here's how ours came out:

We call it, "Lorax, the Impaler" and I would totally go see this movie.

They wouldn't hang it up on the walls, though.

IHOP kinda sucks.

THis is the best coloring page ever in the history of coloring pages. If Vlad Dracul was able to have coloring pages he would have drawn this. So freaking fantastic!

It would have been better is a pageant queen had been there to promote the day and you could have given it to her and really see if she knew how to deal with weird kid things.

Gee, I wonder why they wouldn't hang that masterpiece on the wall?

I think we took the same parenting class. My children would do something similar, I'm sure.

And how in the world did I miss free pancake day?

If I was manager, I would have hung it up.

At 3 years old, my daughter drew vampire birds falling dead out of the sky at dawn. She has always been kind of dark.

So...who's the artist? You, or your son?

Either way they should have hung it up.

Lorax, the Impaler would have made an awesome book/movie. And then, he has a love affair with Vlad! Let's sell this.

I think they didn't see the post-modernistic self criticism inherent in your work. Amazing visualization. Dude, send it to the MOMA. You will be famous.
