Hell yes, Indie Reader. HELL YES.

Got my very first unsolicited book review the other day from IndieReader.com:

4 out of 5 stars?

Not gonna complain about that!! Especially when someone who DOESN'T know my work reads me out of the blue. It can be - needless to say - a little shocking.

If you want to read the entire review, go here. It's very candid and gives you a good idea of the content of the book and what to expect. But, then, if you're on this blog right now, you pretty much know already.

Also? They gave me THIS:

A Nanny Goat and a Surfer Wife read a Brutalism book: The "Things Go Wrong for Me" Book Blogging Tour - Day 2

Before I start today, just want to give you an actual quote taken from the back cover of my book:

Of course that is Jenny Lawson, aka, "The Bloggess."

Yes. The Bloggess thought my book was 'wonderfully hilarious.'

Also?

I received an email from her on Friday that she bought the hard copy of the book.

*passes out

That, people? That's some serious validation right there.

So, happy.

Well, my book, "Things Go Wrong for Me" went on sale last Friday, December 14th.

As of right now, it has surpassed BOTH "The DaVinci Code" and "The King James Bible" in Amazon.com sales.
One of those two previous sentences is total bullshit.

To help celebrate the release of my book, several bloggers agreed to read, review and interview me to help get the ball rolling during my first full week of book sales. None of these people were compensated for this in any way, shape or form. They're just helping me out out of the kindness of their hearts.

They are probably pissed about this.

Book Blogging Tour - Day 2

Today's participants in the Blogging Tour are:

Margaret Andrews of "Nanny Goats in Panties" - I was VERY excited to have Margaret on board for this, and she seemed very excited to do it. Great, great lady.

Monique - aka, "A Day in the Life of SurferWife" - Monique is frigging AMAZING and SOLELY responsible for getting THE super hot and very funny Jenny McCarthy to put a quote on my book about how hilarious it is. I honestly have no words to thank her enough.

Brutalism - I LOVE this chick.

Go check out to see what they have to say about my book, "Things Go Wrong for Me!"

Don't forget to check out Day 1 of the Book Blogging Tour, as well!! Some GREAT interviews and reviews!!

Book-editing comments and, really, none of this should surprise you

As I mentioned on Monday, I will be releasing my FIRST EVER BOOK, "Things Go Wrong for Me" very shortly.

I will totally autograph boobs.

Just throwing that out there, ladies.

Regardless, part of getting the book out is editing and changing and re-editing and cutting and cropping and bleaching anuses and all sorts of shit you don't really expect to be doing.

I thought I'd give you some insight into some of the suggestions for editing that I've sent to my editor.

Enjoy.

"Okay. Here are the files. Sorry..got totally slammed at work yesterday. If I owned a brothel, that would be awesome to say."

"Should probably delete the Wile E. Coyote picture. I think it's extraneous and will probably get us sued."

"I just read the sex title and intro to my girlfriend and she loved it. Then again, I give her amazing sex so she's biased."

"The Raisin picture is ginormous."

"Okay, I'm attaching some pics for the first few vasectomy posts. Put "My condom drawer" in the second story after the paragraph with the crusty condoms and the mice playing ultimate frisbee."

"I don't know. I don't know (a) HOW you did that or (b) how tough it was to do or (x) my alphabet."

"Yeah..still thinking on the sex titles. I don't know why it's so hard. That's what she said."

"Okay. I think I found the issue with the Ron Jeremy thing."

"I totally agree. Also, I am typing this while peeing at a urinal."

"You want me to ship books myself? I have no idea how to ship anything. I'm assuming there's some sort of packaging involved. If you've ever seen any of my Christmas gift wrappings, this is a disaster just waiting to happen."

"In related news, I wrote a LOT about my balls. This may or may not need to be it's own book."

So, yeah. I'm a peach to work with.

Peaches remind me of boobs.

I guess I'll autograph peaches, too.

50 Shades of what?

Right now the hottest book on the planet is '50 Shades of Grey' which is part of some trilogy that my girlfriend is reading and has the apparent side effect of making women really really horny so I'd like to ask the author TO KEEP MAKING THESE BOOKS PLEASE and thankyouverymuch.

*ramps up cardio training

If you're unfamiliar with the book, I pulled this off wikipedia to give you an idea of what's inside:

"It is notable for its explicitly erotic scenes featuring elements of BDSM"

For those unfamiliar with it, "BDSM" stands for "bondage/discipline/submission (or sadism)/masochism." For those who ARE familiar with it, call me.

Being bored as I normally am, I decided to take this idea and run with it..and create some NEW BOOK ideas that borrow from the name and theme.

I hope you enjoy them.

On a side note, I would totally read any of these books.

Especially the Grey's Anatomy one if it was illustrated and Katherine Heigl hadn't been killed off in it yet.

The One Where I Actually Read a Book

I read a book.

This is not typically news unless you're ME where the last actual adult book I read that was non-porno and did not contain pictures of bears or mice or Strega Nona elderly magical pasta-making women or stuffed bears who are borderline retarded and for some reason need pockets (WTF, Corduroy?) was "Into Thin Air" and that was back before I had kids or a bald spot and I just now got the correlation there.

Friggin kids.

Where the fuck was I.

Oh.

I read a book.

I read a book because a friend of mine, Ross Cavins, asked me to.

Because he wrote it.

Ross wrote a book called, "Follow the Money" and he asked me to write a review on it.

So I did.

Ross sends me the book and I open it and MOTHER OF GOD THERE ARE NO PICTURES but there WAS this little gem written inside the cover:

"Rodney,

You may be an adult midget, but you're always big on laughs. You're an inspiration...to twelve-year-olds everywhere."

Hahaha. Funny, Ross.

Your book SUCKS.

Just kidding.

So I started reading "Follow the Money"...

But since I don't particularly care to read I decided that the place where I was most likely to concentrate on such an endeavor was in the bathroom so I put the book on the back of my toilet and within 15 bowel movements and roughly 4 hours later...

VOILA!

..a review is born.

And, honestly, a number of painful hemorrhoids, too.

I've digressed.

Follow the Money

"Follow the Money" is a collection of ten short stories all interconnecting with one simple key ingredient familiar to all of them:

Three million dollars.

Ross does a great job of storytelling with excellent character development.

Honestly, you never really know how each story is going to tie into the others - but he manages to surprise you and pull off an admirable job in bringing each character to life...and, subsequently, each story together.

Considering there were no monkeys or bears or porn, I actually enjoyed reading the book.

Which is saying something since I have the attention span of an OOOOH MY HAMSTER IS AWAKE!! Who's a good girl? Are you a good girl?

She's so cute.

*cricket

OH.

The book.

If you enjoy humorous writing, excellent character development, and like the variety of stories that a collection of short verses can give you, I HIGHLY suggest picking it up.

It will be the best four toilet-bound hours of your life.

Unless you're getting a blumpkin.

Then by all means, put the book down.

Nice job, Ross. But you're still not getting away with that twelve-year-old remark.

Eric Estrada is watching you.

Moog out.
